Research, reading incoming routine correspondence, internal communication and supervision are taken to be included into the deputy’s overheads, except in exceptional circumstances. Whilst incoming correspondence isn’t recoverable per se in Court of Protection matters, time can often be recovered for considering the issues raised therein and any action required as a result. We therefore recommend that you send your entire file of papers to your Costs Draftsman so that they can consider your incoming correspondence and use their expertise to prepare a Bill which accurately reflects the amount of time you have spent on the matter.
